Welcome our new Chaplain, Alyssum Power!

Alyssum grew up in Fort Worth, attending local Catholic schools before graduating from Nolan High School. After high school, she attended Texas Wesleyan as well as Tarleton State University. While in college, her home church was a United Methodist Church which is where she received and responded to her call to ministry. Currently, Alyssum is enrolled in seminary at TCU…GO FROGS!

Alyssum has a passion for pastoral care and helping people grow in their faith. Prior to joining the Stevenson Oaks family, she served at Arbor lawn UMC where she was the Pastor of Congregational Care and has also provided support as a Chaplain with both the Texas Health Hospital system and Trinity Terrace Retirement Community.

Alyssum has been married over4 years to Grant Newman, who is the Music Director for a local church. They live in Benbrook with their three dogs: Ranger, Freckles and Buster. Both Alyssum and Grant’s families are also in the DFW area.

Alyssum likes to run, cycle and generally spend time outside. A favorite activity her and her husband enjoy together is golf, which they hope to make more time for. She loves Fort Worth and all that it has to offer.
